MATERIUM – Extrusion System

Assembly & Installation

Unboxing, Inspection & Warranty

This guide defines the expected condition of a new Materium unit at delivery.
It exists to keep both you and Metafuse accountable.

It serves two purposes:

  • A step-by-step unboxing and first-run verification guide

  • A reference for warranty inspection and support claims

If your received unit does not meet the conditions described here, you may return the unit or request replacement parts for the affected items. Any unit not complying with this guide is considered defective, either partially or fully.

This guide should be reviewed as the first step after receiving your Materium.
To raise a warranty or support claim, please document the issue and send the evidence to Metafuse for verification and further discussion.

Claims raised without documentation may be difficult to evaluate.

Before You Begin

– Perform this inspection before installation or modification
– Minor cosmetic marks from assembly or testing are normal
This guide only applies as warranty within 90 days of the courier reporting that items are received

What Warranty Covers

✔ Manufacturing defects
✔ Missing or incorrect parts
✔ Damage during shipping
✔ Assembly or alignment issues

It does not cover:

✖ Damage caused by modification
✖ Wear from use
✖ Issues caused by unsupported firmware or wiring changes
✖ Units reported after 90 days of arrival, per courier’s report

Let’s begin!

What Happens After a Claim Is Verified?

Once a claim is approved, one of the following will apply:

  • Full unit return & replacement
You ship the complete unit (with its box) back to Indonesia. (Where is Indonesia?)
A replacement is sent within 30 days after we receive the unit.
Return shipping to us is paid by you; replacement shipping is paid by us.
    (Least common case)

  • Partial return & replacement
You ship back only the affected parts and receive replacements.
    Same shipping terms as above.
    (Most common case)

  • No return required
For missing parts or confirmed assembly mistakes, replacements are shipped directly to you.
Shipping is fully covered by us.

UNBOXING

  1. Unboxing your Materium (all variants): check completeness
  2. Toolboard Unit
  3. Power Cable
  4. Nozzles
  5. Motor
  6. Fans
  7. Fan ducts
  8. Wires
  9. Side Sash
  10. Front Sash
  11. Pellet Chamber
  12. Screws
  13. Silicone Sock

If any items are missing or incorrect, stop here and report the issue.

Dry Test (No Power, No Material)

⚠️ Do not connect Materium to a printer or controller during this test.

  1. Wear gloves and footwear.

  2. Secure the crimped ends of the power cable to the toolboard.
Plug the other end into an electrical outlet.
Nothing should happen — no heat, no fan movement, no power draw.
    Unplug immediately after confirming.

  3. Look through the nozzle toward a bright light.
You should see a clear, round opening with no visible obstruction.

  4. Confirm again that Materium is not connected to any printer or controller.

Fan Check

  • Blow into each top cooling fan.
It should spin freely, then slow down and wobble slightly when stopping.
If it does not spin or stops abruptly, report it.

  • For the lower radial fan, gently flick it with your finger.
It should spin briefly and wobble as it stops.

Mechanical Checks

  • Using an M3 hex key, apply a light loosening force to the indicated screws:
(Do not remove them.) Tighten them if needed.

  • Slide the side windows up and down. They should move slightly and not bind.

  • Attach and detach the hopper connector. It should not feel tight or forced.

  • Remove the silicone sock and locate the thermistor and heater wires.
Very gently tug them. They should remain secure. The thermistor wires are the most delicate especially on the ends.
If a wire detaches, report immediately.

    • If the silicone sock is accidentally damaged during inspection, report it.
Eligibility for silicone sock replacement will be evaluated case by case.

  • With the extruder fully assembled, attempt to rotate the screw or coupling by hand.
You should not be able to rotate it.
If rotation is possible, report the issue.
